The collection consists of the papers of Clarence Albert Bacote from 1932-1977. Includes correspondence, reports, photographs, project statements, news clippings, and questionnaires. Materials document Bacote's prominent role in the registration of African-American voters in Georgia particularly in Atlanta during 1946, civil rights in Georgia, and participation in and election to the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party in Fulton County, Georgia. Also described in the Bacote papers are his achievements and work, while a professor at Atlanta University (AU), including research for a history of AU, and memberships on the governing boards of the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History and the Southern Historical Association.
